You have decided on a square. The only question left is the size — and it is the one decision that changes how the scarf behaves more than any print or colour. This is the short version of our full silk scarf size guide, written only for squares.
Start with how you will wear it
The size sets what the scarf can do. A 45 cm square is an accent; a 70 cm is the everyday all-rounder; a 90 cm is a statement you can drape and wrap. If you only want one, start at 70 cm — it covers the widest range of knots and never feels like too much.
45 cm — the accent square

Best for a small neck knot, a ponytail, or a bag handle. It will not drape or read as a shoulder piece — and that is the point: it is the low-commitment way into silk. Bloom Corner 45 cm is a good first square; Mint silk twill square is the same size in a softer print.
70 cm — the all-rounder square
The size that does most things acceptably: neck knot, headband, a light shoulder layer. If you are choosing your first square and do not want to think about it, this is the one. See it next to the others in our square vs twilly vs wrap guide before you decide.
90 cm — the statement square

Full drape, shoulder wraps, the larger knots — and the size that looks most expensive because the fabric has room to fall. Garden Veil 90 cm is the classic hand-rolled square; Bloom Corner 90 cm is the bolder statement print. Five easy ways to tie either are in our how-to-tie-a-silk-square guide.
If you buy only one
70 cm. It is the square that earns its place fastest. Move to 90 cm when you want drama, or add a 45 cm when you want a small everyday accent. For the full size-by-size breakdown, read the complete silk scarf size guide.
